Cotillion 2013

Time did fly while we were busy studying. Another academic year had gone by and summer had approached. Last semester may just be another semester for some of us, but for the graduating batch, it marked the end of their undergraduate life. Before we bid farewell to the graduating batch, EXC9 decided to remember and celebrate their 4  of SMU life and in years the same time celebrate the end of exams of all SMUKI members through Cotillion 2013!

Held at Riptaloka Hall KBRI, Cotillion 2013 was themed vintage. All SMUKI members were welcomed to dress up and dance the night away.

They then moved on giving their best poses at the photo booth. EXC9 took the benefit of Indonesian narcissism and converted it into a lovely instant photo as a souvenir!

The event officially started with a speech by our president, Hans Airy, thanking the faithful member for coming and giving his best wishes to the graduates.

And it’s time for food! Everyone seemed to enjoy the scrumptious dishes while casually chatting with one another. Brightening up the mood, our very own talented EXC9 Arts and Culture’s ladies performed several mellow songs.

Some of the members were also eager to show off their musical talent!

Right after the performances, we finally began our first section of the eccentric awards revelation. The “Tai Tai” Award which was defined to be one who is best suited as a rich-man’s wife, was won by Yoanna Gotama.  Subsequent reward was the “Playboy Model” Award, given to the most distinguished “sexy” male, Mr. Oka Sutedjo!

The night would not be complete without a fun game for everyone. Following the two awards announcement, we played the “Gombal” game, featuring our selected romantic individuals. Each of the contestants was given random tool to aid his pick-up line such as toilet paper, plastic plate, plastic glass, coin, carrot, and banana. The objective is simple, to win the lady’s heart with your best “Gombal”!

Right after all extremely entertaining and hilarious ‘live comedy’ , the event continued with more awesome performances by some of the graduating batch members.

It’s finally time of revelation again! This time round with our crazier awards: The “Bottomless Pit” - rewarding person with the biggest appetite, “5000 Shades of Love”  - rewarding those who demonstrated fondest affection between/among one another and finally The “Bald Before Thirty” award  rewarding one who was super serious in a lot of things that one would get stress and lose hair in no time!

The event then continued with a heartfelt speech by a representative of the graduating batch who was also SMUKI’s EXC7 president, Amel.

Building up on the moving moment, EXCO9 right away screened a video specially made to honor and relive all the memories shared together by the graduating batch. The video featured collage of photos across 4 years of their SMU journey and interviews of several batch representatives. Pouring their hearts out into the interviews, they shared their unforgettable SMUKI experiences and meaningful messages with their friends.

Not wanting to end the event with tears and sorrow, we straightaways moved forward to the announcement of Mr and Mrs Cotillion 2013 by Hans and Tiffany!

Mr and Mrs SMUKI of the year 2013 were Daniel and Vania! Congratulations! As how the traditional prom night works, they led the dancing by slowly dancing to the romantic song performed live by our Arts and Culture ladies. Soon other couples joined in and the room felt drowned with an unending romance!

Cotillion finally came to a close with the final, terrific performance by the year 4s! At the end, everyone went towards the dance floor, sang and danced along wishing the night would never have to end.

It was a night to remember for all of us. We shared treasurous laughter and flashbacks of our beautiful memories. We truly hope everyone enjoyed the night and we would again congratulate the year 4s and wish you all the very best for your future endeavors. For the rest of us, have a blast in your summer and keep an eye out for next SMUKI’s great event! ;)

Cotillion 2013 started off with SMUKI members voting for their nominated friends for the eccentric awards we had prepared. We could sense how excited they were through the boisterousness and laughter at the register!
